Did you ever get an e-mail returned as undeliverable because the attachment exceeded the size limit of your (or your recipient's) e-mail service? Does it sometimes feel that it takes forever to send e-mails with large attachments? Are you concerned that someone other than your intended recipient may see the confidential information contained in your e-mail attachments? If you're like most of us, the answer to at
least one of these questions is "yes" and if you need a solution to any of these problems, then WinZip® E-Mail Companion 2.0 was made for you.
WinZip E-mail Companion is an easy-to-use, time saving tool that reduces the size of outgoing e-mail attachments and provides password-based AES encryption to protect confidential information in those attachments.
WinZip E-Mail Companion works seamlessly within Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Mail (Windows Vista) and is the perfect solution for reducing the complexity and time that it takes to send and receive attachments via e-mail, and will reduce the amount of disk space required to store those messages. Simply write your e-mail, attach your files, click Send and let WinZip E-Mail Companion do the rest. WinZip E-Mail Companion will ensure that your attachments are as small as possible.
If you send a document, spreadsheet or presentation directly from Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint, WinZip E-Mail Companion will zip and e-mail these files in one step. What's more, you can also save your file as a Zip file directly from within these Office applications.
You can even customize behavior and performance to meet your specific needs thanks to WinZip E-Mail Companion's flexible configuration.
Automatic, Prompted or Manual Zip and Encrypt Quickly and easily compress e-mail attachments when you press Send in
Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Mail. Sending confidential
information? Use WinZip E-Mail Companion's password-based AES encryption
option to protect your attachments.
Best Method using Advanced Zip File Compression Achieve optimal file compression to ensure that your e-mail attachments are as small as possible. This is especially helpful when you're
trying to send files that may otherwise exceed the maximum size allowed by your (or your recipient's) e-mail service. Choosing our
'Best method' option will also reduce the time to send and receive your e-mail, and minimize the amount of space required to store
e-mails with attachments.
File Exclusion List You can save time by excluding designated file types from
WinZip E-Mail Companion's automatic compression option. You can also
set a file size filter so that WinZip E-Mail Companion doesn't compress
single files smaller than the limit you set.
Password-based AES Encryption Use strong passwords or passphrases to protect your confidential information from unauthorized access with WinZip's 128-bit or
256-bit AES encryption.
Alternate Attachment Extension Automatically change the file extension used for your compressed attachments to prevent some e-mail services from blocking them.
Legacy Zip 2.0 Support If your recipient has an older version of WinZip, he or she may not be able to open Zip files created with WinZip's AES encryption or
advanced compression methods. Therefore, WinZip E-Mail Companion allows you to create compressed and encrypted attachments using
the Zip 2.0 standard. Using Zip 2.0 compression ensures that any version of WinZip (or other standard Zip utility) can open the attachment.
Microsoft Office Integration Save your file as a Zip file or send your file as a compressed e-mail attachment directly from within Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
Flexible Configuration Customize the behavior and performance of WinZip E-Mail Companion to
meet your specific needs.
Requirements
WinZip E-Mail Companion requires that Microsoft Outlook 2002, Outlook 2003,
Outlook 2007, Outlook Express 6.0, or Windows Mail 6.0 be installed
on your system with Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista.
These requirements only apply to the computer system where WinZip
E-Mail Companion is installed. Recipients of your e-mail messages
do not need WinZip E-Mail Companion and can use any e-mail program
to read your e-mail. To open and extract the compressed Zip files,
your recipient will need a Zip file utility such as WinZip or WinZip
Pro.
