- A newly designed GUI to provide for ease of operations
The GUI has been designed so that complex setting can be done intuitively. This includes:
-
- A display of the XML structure of your data that enables you to easily set the XML paths of the individual elements by dragging and dropping the elements to wherever you want them mapped to the design of the report or form.
- Objects in the layout pane can be assigned variable names. Both the XML path and the variable names can then easily be inserted into expressions by simply clicking on them in the Object tree or the Reference XML Structure tree on the GUI.
- Multiple XML paths to text elements can be arranged in a single text object. This lets you combine multiple XML elements together for formatting (i.e. FirstName LastName).
- When you begin a new project a set of Navigation dialogues guides you through inputting all the necessary items to get started.
- XSL Report Designer lets you arrange the various Windows in the display. You can even choose to hide the Windows if you do not need them while working on a project.
- The menus have been organized to provide for easy access to all the tasks required when developing a new form or report.
- The Properties Pane provides for easy access to all the formatting and processing information about each object on the Layout. As you click on an object the Properties Pane shows all the information about the object. The object can then be easily modified right from the Property Pane.
- Now as you work with XSL Report Designer, each dialogue book has a help button. The toolbar can easily be customized to provide quick access to the most commonly used functions.
- New features
XSL Report Designer now supports working with TSV/CSV data in addition to supporting new objects such as horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines in the design.
-
- TSV(Tab Separated Values) and CSV(Comma Separated Values) file can be specified as reference data.
- "Line" object to draw horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines.
- Many new properties have been added to enhance the formatting and processing capabilities of XSL Report Designer.
To print forms or reports you no longer need to create XSL stylesheets by hand or write complex programs to merge data. Creating the layout can now be done without programming using the intuitive GUI of XSL Report Designer. You can then save your design as an XSL Stylesheet or you can save it as a project file that can then be used with XSL Report Designer's Runtime Engine to produce XSL-FO with your XML data and layout merged into one file. With Antenna House XSL Formatter you can then format the XSL-FO for print, PDF or screen whether it's 1 page or 100,000 pages.
XSL Report Designer is designed to work with Antenna House XSL Formatter both while creating the design and then to produce the final output. Based on the W3C XSL-FO Recommendation XSL Report Designer uses XSL Formatter to handle complex formatting requirements and to preview the forms and merged content while creating the design. Several extensions developed by Antenna House for XSL Formatter are used to meet your complex formatting and output needs. Antenna House XSL Formatter V3.1 or later is a prerequisite for XSL Report Designer.
This easy-to-use tool takes the mystery out of and greatly simplifies the task of producing reports and forms for use with XML data and allows organizations to expand their use of XSL-FO, standards and Antenna House Formatter.
XSL Report Designer Features
Requires no knowledge of XSL-FO, XSLT, stylesheets or programming
To transform your XML data into forms and reports no longer requires the design of complex stylesheets or programs. It can all be done with your mouse and XSL Report Designer's easy to using GUI.
Set complex formats and expressions easily
Complex processing can be specified and executed easily with the wide range of format specifications and built-in functions (string manipulation, doing math calculations, processing conditional statements, Xpath specification, etc.) all easily accessible from the GUI.
Supports three layout types
XSL Report Designer lets you create Fixed layouts for your rigid forms, Flow layouts for forms that have expanding fields to accommodate the data and Label layouts for multiple forms (labels) on a page.
Generate XSL stylesheets
XSL Report Designer lets you save your project as an XSL stylesheets to then be used with a standard XSLT processor to create XSL-FO from your XML data.
Supports the use of TSV/CSV data
With XSL Report Designer a Project File can be created to format your existing TSV (Tab Separated Values) / CSV (Comma Separated Values) files by converting them into XML data.
Runtime Engine to create XSL-FO
Going beyond what can be achieved with XSLT the Runtime Engine offers a wide range of additional functions to process and transform XML data to XSL-FO based on the layout designed with XSL Report Designer. The Java and command line interfaces of the Runtime Engine are designed to enable the construction of systems for server or web enabled formatting of reports and forms.
