ActiveXplorer - The library file viewer and manager
 There are hundreds of libraries on your computer. What are they doing there? Are they installed correctly? What's in them? ActiveXplorer is a library file manager and analyzer for COM libraries - ActiveX controls, TLBs, DLL and EXE servers - and .NET assemblies.
Your component is ready, but the help file is rather undone? Found a new component but no docs? Relax! ActiveXplorer will create the missing documentation - CHM, HTML, or RTF - in a minute.

For system maintenance
Manage your component files. What's installed? ActiveXplorer shows the details of all COM libraries and .NET assemblies on your system. Know about the file versions, CLSIDs and installation paths.
Keep your Registry in a good shape. Is your system registry up-to-date? Use ActiveXplorer to find missing files and clean the registry of extra entries. Right-click any COM file to register it correctly.
View Registry entries. Browse the registry entries that are related to a component.

For software development
Learn to use undocumented controls. Analyze any COM component or .NET assembly to see what's inside it. View the available properties and methods with descriptions on how they should be called.

Compatibility and version notes
.NET compatibility. ActiveXplorer covers features of the .NET framework v1.x. Features introduced in .NET v2.0, 3.0 or later are not covered. The .NET framework is not required for ActiveXplorer to run.
Upgrade policy. Minor version updates (bug fixes) are free within v4.x. New features are not planned to be added in v4.x.
Windows Vista compatibility
ActiveXplorer v4 is not readily compatible with Windows Vista. One can run it on Vista by the following instructions:
1. Install Visual Basic 5.0 run-time files (msvbvm50.dll)

This step is necessary only if you get a warning about missing msvbvm50.dll.
2. Set to run as Administrator. Right-click the ActiveXplorer shortcut, select Properties and set the Privilege Level as shown in the image on the right. ActiveXplorer is system utility and it requires administrator privileges to run. |
